Convicts from the December 2012 Delhi gang rape case were using delaying tactic to save their skins said Nirbhaya’s mother as she broke down in the court. A Delhi court was hearing the petition of the state and Nirbhaya’s parents who were seeking death warrants against the four accused.
What about my rights, asked Nirbhaya’s mother reminding the court that it has been more than seven years, and that justice hasn’t been done. A Delhi court on Wednesday offered Pawan Gupta, one of the four death row convicts in the gang rape cum murder case legal aid when he told the court that he didn’t have a lawyer.
Speaking further on the delay, Nirbhaya’s mother said that the new lawyer will take their own sweet time to study the case in detail. Sessions judge Dharmender Rana while pronouncing the order to get a lawyer to represent the accused also stated his displeasure in the delay from Pawan’s side.
