Over 70 per cent of buyers looking to purchase a house of their own in India are preferring budget properties which are within Rs. 50 lakhs, a survey by real estate major Magicbricks reveals. As per Magicbricks consumer poll most preference was given for properties in Rs.15 to Rs.20 lakhs range with 28 per cent voting for it while around 25 per cent opted for the Rs.30 to Rs.50 lakhs price bracket.

Speaking to media, E Jayashree Kurup, Head Content and Advisory, Magicbricks, said, “The recent launch of the Credit-linked Subsidy Services Awas Portal, (CLAP), has made it easier for consumers to track the status of their applications. This transparent and web-based monitoring system for tracking CLSS by beneficiaries is likely to add to the consumer excitement over being able to purchase affordable homes.”

Affordable and lower-mid segment were popular among salaried classes with luxurious flats being hardly preferred.
