The apex court today transferred the petitions of Delhi riot victims to Delhi High Court for an amicable settlement. The top court of India also directed the High Court to list the matter on Friday for hearing on a priority basis.
The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and comprising Justices B.R. Gavai and Surya Kant said: “We request the Delhi High Court to list the matter on Friday…as the long delay in the matter is not justified.”
The Delhi High Court had listed the Delhi riots hearing for April 13 but dismayed by the same the victim’s counsel moved the top court.
The Chief Justice of India meanwhile spoke about the need for spreading the message of peace to maintain communal harmony and he also opined the possibility of involving political leaders in this quest.
