It has been seen that recovering from covid can be a long process and hence it is necessary that one eats all the right food to maintain their body's immunity level and keep other health issues aside, and the best way to do that is through the healthy and nutritious meal. A nutritionist said that “It is important to take care of one’s health and eat healthy meals post Covid, to avoid and manage post-Covid complications”. This is possible through a diet rich in nutritious food and simple ingredients which are not oily, spicy, or extremely sweet can help.

It is important to keep in mind that one should:

  • Only eat fresh, warm, and home-cooked meals.
  • Eat fruits before 5 p.m. so that it is easier to digest. It has been suggested that one should eat sour fruits over sweet ones as that is better for the health.
  • Avoid eating raw food, sweet, oily, spicy, cold, packaged foods, maida (bread, pizza, cookies), or leftovers, as they can be hard for the body to digest.
  • Have a light and nutritious meal like khichdi which a little spice.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking natural juices.
  • Go on walks, do some mild exercises, this will keep the body active and improve the immunity and also helps in maintaining the oxygen level.
  • Do some breathing exercises as that will improve your blood flow and will also help in keeping the lungs clean. Pranayams is one of the breathing techniques that one can try.
  • Last but most important, don’t let the fear of post-covid complications get into your mind and bring your morale down.

Some healthy and nutritious food tips, post-Covid include:

  • Soups: Lentil, vegetable, or chicken
  • Sour fruits: Kiwi, pineapple, amla, berries, sweet lime, etc.
  • Flours: Barley, ragi, jowar, or besan
  • Spices: Turmeric, garlic, black pepper, cloves, cumin, etc.
  • Herbal teas: Lemongrass, cinnamon, ginger-lemon, etc.
