New Delhi: Union Cabinet recommended presidential rule in Maharashtra where after last month's assembly polls, no political party was able to form a government. The decision of the Cabinet followed extreme hours-long speculation that Governor Bhagar Singh Koshyari had recommended the rule of the President in the State and an initial denial by the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. When rumors reached a feverish peak, a statement was issued by the governor's house that it supported the rule of the president.
