Chandrayaan-2 Moon Lander's Debris Found

Tuesday,03 December 2019 04:07 AM IST

New Delhi: NASA found Chandrayaan-2's Vikram lander, which crashed while trying to land on the moon in September, and the U.S. space agency credited a Chennai-based engineer who spent hours comparing images of the landing site before and after. NASA said on September 26 (but taken on September 17) it released a mosaic photo of the site, asking people to compare it with photos of the same place before the crash to find signs of the lander. The first person to come up with a positive identification was Shanmuga "Shan" Subramanian, a 33-year-old IT professional. The NASA tweeted: "The Vikram lander has been found by our @NASAMoon mission, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. See the first mosaic of the impact site https://go.nasa.gov/33Dl5Fr"
