Detained students of JMI released from Kalkaji, NFC police stations

New Delhi: All Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI) detained students were released from the police stations of Kalkaji and New Friends Colony, the Delhi Police said Monday in a statement.JMI and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students held a Sunday midnight demonstration at Delhi Police Headquarters, ITO, to protest the alleged abuse of police personnel on Sunday at the JMI campus. "All students detained from Kalkaji and New Friends Colony have been released," a statement by Delhi Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) MS Randhawa read, "Delhi Police also appealed to the protesters to end their protest. Buses have also been arranged to drop the protesters. Injured students will also be released after treatment."The Delhi Minorities Commission had earlier issued an order to release all injured Jamia Millia students held at the police station at the SHO Kalkai Police Station. The Commission also asked the police to send the injured students to a reputable hospital for treatment. "SHO Kalkaji will be responsible for any problems in the students ' injuries.
