Doorodarshan  officer suspended in Chennai

Chennai: A senior official of Doordarshan Chennai Kendra was put under suspension and "disciplinary proceedings" were launched against her reportedly for not broadcasting live portion of the speech made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Chennai earlier this week. Shashi Shekhar Vempati, Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati, said in an order dated October 1, that R Vasumathi, Assistant Director (Programme), DD Chennai Kendra, was suspended with "immediate effect," pending disciplinary action. She was told not to leave Chennai without Vempati's consent.
