Pervez Musharraf Sentenced To Death

Tuesday,17 December 2019 07:51 AM IST

New Delhi: According to Pakistani media reports, former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf was sentenced to death in the high treason case by a Pakistani court. The former military leader was sentenced to death for suspending the Constitution and enforcing emergency rule in the country in November 2007, a criminal crime for which he was convicted in 2014, by a three-member bench of a special court in the long-drawn high-traitor case against him.

Since leaving Pakistan for medical treatment, Pervez Musharraf, 76, has been living in exile in Dubai since March 2016 and has not returned since citing health and safety. After recovering from an injury, he was admitted to a hospital in Dubai in March. The treason case against Pervez Musharraf was initiated by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The case was pending since 2013.
