Shanmukhananda honours Wounded Warriors

The Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai felicitated 11 disabled Army men from the Artificial Limb Centre of the Indian Army at Pune on the occasion of the Republic Day, and the Sabha president Dr V.Shankar handed over a cheque for Rs.10 lakh to the Paraplegic unit of the Indian Army. Lt. General S.K. Prashar GOC Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa area.
On the Independence Day each year, the Sabha felicitates families of soldiers from the Maratha Light Infantry and other units under the Western Command with a solatium of Rs. 2 lakhs each and mementoes of Household value to them.
Lt.General S.K.Prashar, General Officer Commanding Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa in his address said my vision of what society feels for the soldiers can be seen here, the gesture made by Shanmukhananda which cares for the army. “No amount of material can actually help a wounded warriors or widows”. Only emotional support the society which provides and feel for them will only help to heal the wounds they suffered. The General said he would be too happy to collaborate institutions like this who cares for the solders and their families by their support which would help them to be independent.
Dr. Shankar, president of the Shanmukhananda said the Sabha always helps the war widows and wounded solders in whatever way they could for the last three years by providing financial supports and honour them. The soldiers fight in borders so that we can live in peace, he said. This is a small token of our appreciation to them, he said.
