Top opposition leaders stayed away from the meeting on CAA

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi presides over an opposition party meeting on Monday to step up efforts to combat the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on citizenship law, the proposed citizens ' register and the economy. The attempt to develop a joint strategy had suffered a setback long before the meeting began on Monday afternoon after Mayawati also decided to stay away. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Aravind Kejriwal, Udhav Thackeray and M K Stalin have also stayed away from the meeting.
