Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra's chief minister, condemned Sunday's police crackdown on students at Jamia Millia University during demonstrations against the Citizenship Law, saying the incident reminded him of "Jallianwala Bagh," one of India's worst independence movement massacres. Are we creating a situation like Jallianwala Bagh in this country by trying to scare students, "Uddhav Thackeray asked at today's Maharashtra assembly, attacking the former ally BJP's central government over Sunday night's citizenship protests and violence.
