Mumbai: Preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi are in their final stages in Mumbai.

The arrival of attractive idols of Vighnaharta, the first revered Lord Ganesha, has started in different puja pandals.

This year the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated from 7th September.

The enthusiasm and scale with which Ganesh Utsav is celebrated in Mumbai and Maharashtra is not commonly seen in any other state of the country.

The artisans of Shri Sai Arts, Borivali have been making Ganpati idols for the last 20 years. Ganpati idols ranging from 1 foot to 25 feet are prepared here.

“We make Ganpati as per customer’s demand, and start the work of making idols six-months in advance. We use Sadu clay and POP to prepare the idols beautifully. Many people buy Ganpati idols from us. As per customer demand, we also add stones (artificial diamonds) to the Ganapati, which enhances the beauty of the idol. We also make eco-friendly Ganpatis, and people come from far and wide to buy our idols,” said the artisans.
