I shudder to imagine what would happen if I woke up tomorrow and discovered that I had the power to predict the future. But some great men in the past had the ability to predict the future. The most famous among them was Nostradamus. Nostradamus, also called Michel de Notredame (1503-1566) was a French physician and astrologer, who lived in the Renaissance Period.
Nostradamus began his medical practice in Agen in 1530. He never had taken a medical degree but was expelled from medical school. He began making prophecies in 1547, which he published in a book called Centuries in 1555. Astrology was then at a peak, and an enlarged second edition, dedicated to the French king, was published 1n 1558.
Many of Nostradamus's supporters believe his prophecies are genuine. Owing to the subjective nature of these interpretations, however, no two of them completely agree on what Nostradamus predicted, whether for the past or for the future. Many supporters, however, do agree, for example, that he predicted the Great Fire of London, the French Revolution, the rise of Napoleon and Adolf Hitler, both World Wars, and the nuclear destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Popular authors frequently claim that he predicted whatever major event had just happened at the time of publication of each book, such as the Man on Moon in 1969, the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster in 1986, the death of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997, and the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001.
In 1566 Nostradamus's gout, which had plagued him painfully for many years made movement very difficult. On 1st July 1556, he told his secretary Jean de Chavigny, "You will not find me alive at sunrise." The next morning, he was reportedly found dead, lying on the floor next to his bed. He could even predict his own death.
Nostradamus’s famous and true predictions
He predicted “The young lion will overcome the older one”. In the summer of 1559 King Henry II of France (older one) lined up to compete with the Comte de Montgomery (young lion), six years his junior, on the fields of France (field of combat). Both had lions on their shields. King Henry II was killed in the battle
Nostradamus said “Burnt by fire in the year '66’ the ancient lady (London) will fall from her high place.” The small fire that started in the bakery of Thomas Farriner on Pudding Lane in London September 2, 1666 (in the year '66’) turned into a three-day blaze that consumed the ’ancient lady’
Nostradamus wrote “from the enslaved populace, songs, chants and demands, while princes and lords are held captive in prisons.” In 1789, the French people decided they had enough of aristocratic rule and revolted. The peasants (enslaved populace) took control of Paris and forced their demands on royalty. Blood bath happened on the streets of Paris, and innocent aristocrats were guillotined in Bastille. Napoleon became the ruler.
He quoted “A young child will be born of poor people, he who by his tongue will seduce a great troop”. Hitler was born of poor parents in Austria. Hitler became a great orator and became the ruler of Germany in 1925. He led Germany towards 2nd World War.
Nostradamus predicted “Near the gates and within two cities, there will be scourges the like of which was never seen, famine within plague, people put out by steel, crying to the great immortal God for relief." Japan bombed an American city, Pearl Harbor. In early August 1945 the United States dropped two atomic weapons on the island of Japan, in (within two cities) Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The suffering endured by those in the blast and the radiation poisoning suffered by those who escaped the immediate detonation (Crying to the great immortal God for relief).
He stated “The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt”. The great President John F Kennedy (the great man), was shot down (struck by a thunderbolt), by Lee Oswald in Dallas, Texas in 1963. About Robert Kennedy he said “According to the prediction, another falls at night time.” Robert Kennedy was killed just after Midnight on June 5, 1968 (another falls at night time).
Nostradamus said “God Takes the Goddess of the Moon for his Day & Movement”. Lady Diana (named after the Roman Goddess of the moon) and the Princess of Wales, wife of Prince Charles, died in a car accident in August 1997 in Paris, while being chased by Press.
Nostradamus predicted the death of John Kennedy’s son by saying “The year 1999 seven months from the sky will come the great King of Terror”. On July 16, 1999 (1999 seven months), John F. Kennedy, Jr. was piloting his plane (From the sky) off the coast of Massachusetts with his wife Carolyn Bessette and her sister as passengers. The plane crashed, due to pilot error, and all aboard were killed.
This is one of the most sensational prediction of Nostradamus. He stated” Earthshaking fire from the center of the Earth, will cause tremors around the New City. Two great rocks will war for a long time." On the morning of September 11, 2001, the two towers (two great rocks) of the World Trade Center were attacked in New York City (New City).
Nostradamus became quite famous in recent times with his prediction of Corona. He stated “There will be a twin year (2020) from which will arise a queen (corona) who will come from the east (China) and who will spread a plague (virus) in the darkness of night, on a country with 7 hills (Italy) and will transform the twilight of men into dust (death), to destroy and ruin the world. It will be the end of the world economy as you know it.”
Nostradamus prediction about India is quite positive. He predicted “that a person from India with a spiritual background will rule the whole world under him. This is also true with India becoming a world leader under the rule of our charismatic Prime Minister.
Nostradamus has predicted 2021 also as a year of suffering with draughts and floods. Hope it does not come true like his prediction of the end of the world in 2012. I bow before such a great personality. I remember watching the documentary “The Man Who Saw Tomorrow” in my childhood and saw it again last week, I felt I was watching a haunted movie when they showed 9/11 incident. The documentary was made in the Eighties. If only we had bothered to read his books and take him seriously, we could have avoided many tragedies in the past. All is not lost; we still have time to save ourselves from future calamities.
