Tata Motors August sales increase 22

India’s leading heavy vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors has reported that its sales for the month of August increased by around 22% selling 35,420 units as against 29,140 units during the same month last year in 2019. The company recorded an uptick of over 150% in its passenger vehicle segment by selling 18,583 units in the last month as against 7,316 in August 2019.

However, the company witnessed a decline of 28% in the commercial vehicle segment. It sold 17,889 units including domestic and exports during the month as against 24,850 units in the same period, a year ago. Domestic commercial vehicle sales registered a decline of 22.9% with the company selling 16,837 units in August 2020 as against 21,824 units in August 2019. Exports in the commercial vehicle segment witnessed a decline of 65.2% with 1,052 units being sold last month as against 3,026 units in August 2019.

The good news was that overall Tata Motors total sales including domestic and exports in August this year increased 13.3% at 36472 units as against 32,166 units in August 2019.
