Jaipur: Rajasthan, India’s cultural hub and major tourist attraction, is now set to boost medical tourism with the state government’s soon-to-launch ‘Heal in Rajasthan’ policy, officials confirmed.
On Saturday, all parties had in-depth discussions about the Medical and Health Department’s draft policy. Based on the feedback, the policy will be finalised soon.
Shubhra Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, presided over a meeting where various elements of increasing medical tourism in the state were thoroughly examined.

Speaking at the event, she stated that the government is ushering in a new medical era in Rajasthan. This year’s budget paid close attention to the health sector, allocating 8.26% of the overall budget for health—the highest budget provision ever.
She stated that the state’s medical infrastructure is quickly developing. World-class institutions are being developed here. Allopathy, Ayurvedic treatment, and health activities are promoted holistically. The construction of the Ayushman Tower at Sawai Mansingh Hospital, the establishment of two Medicity and Marwar Medical Universities, medical colleges and nursing colleges in each district, the promotion of telemedicine, and the arrival of many high-class medical institutions in the private sector will all help to boost medical tourism in Rajasthan. Furthermore, with the inclusion of mobility in the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana, patients from other states would be allowed to come here for treatment.
Singh stated that medical tourism opportunities in the state have grown rapidly due to continual improvements in health services and available treatment at reasonable prices. The state government is committed to broadening these opportunities through policies that benefit other industries, such as pharmaceuticals and hotels, ensuring that healthcare is not a luxury but a right for all.
During the meeting, medical experts made numerous important suggestions to increase medical tourism in the state, such as developing high-level health facilities in the capital and other districts, improving road and air connectivity, expanding opportunities in medical education, providing adequate housing facilities for patients and their families, and making the rules more accessible and investment-friendly to encourage private sector medical institutions.
Vikas Swarnkar, chairperson of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences, stated that all parties have been more effectively involved in promoting medical tourism in the format established by the Medical Department. Ranjan Thakur, Director of Manipal Hospital, added that the Medical Department’s efforts to implement a better medical tourism strategy were welcomed.
Rajneesh Sharma, state president of the Indian Medical Association, stated that health initiatives in Rajasthan are more effective than in other states.
