Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood ‘Baadshah’ and superstar, has openly expressed his admiration for women filmmakers. He believes that their approach to filmmaking is more ‘nuanced and overarching ‘, a sentiment that underscores his respect for their craft.

An old video of Shah Rukh, who is known as the ‘King of Romance’, talking about working with female directors.

“Men compartmentalise their feelings… But women are more nuanced and overarching. They go all over the place. I think I enjoy working with women because of their sensitivity… to be honest… I don’t want to belittle the importance of some great directors who are also very nice optically like Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Karan Johar, Mani Ratnam,” Shah Rukh could be heard saying.

He added that “women also make the films look nicer”.

“Whether it is the colours and not to take away from all the great male directors I worked with, and I don’t want to sound inappropriate… They do smell better,” he said.

Shah Rukh was last seen on the screen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, a comic drama based on the illegal immigration practice known as “donkey flight.” The film also featured Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and Vicky Kaushal.

He will reportedly next appear in ‘King’ alongside his daughter Suhana Khan.

The film is expected to begin shooting in January 2025. Sujoy Ghosh directed the action thriller film.

Suhana will make her big screen debut alongside her father in the film. She made her debut in the acting industry with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, which was released digitally.

According to sources, the film would be an action thriller shot in Europe and starring Shah Rukh, Suhana, and Abhishek Bachchan, who will portray an antagonist.

‘King’ is slated for release in 2026.
