The relationship between Bollywood and the drug Mafia has been there for quite some time. Aryan Khan is the latest to get exposed in the drug nexus. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan was arrested on October 3 in connection with the Mumbai cruise drugs case. He was arrested along with seven others following a raid at a party on a cruise ship, Cordelia off the coast of Mumbai by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). As per sources from NCB, the raids revealed a huge quantity of banned drugs like cocaine and ecstasy.

The charges brought against Aryan Khan include purchase, possession and use of banned substances, it added. He was produced in court where the agency was granted custody of those arrested. Aryan Khan's lawyer Satish Maneshinde demanded bail, for his client, saying that his client had been arrested only on the basis of chat messages. “Aryan had no ticket, no cabin or seat onboard the cruise. He was there because he had been invited. He didn't even have a boarding pass. Nothing has been found on him. He was arrested on the basis of the chat only”, said the lawyer.

Besides Aryan Khan, the NCB had earlier released the names of the seven people who had been detained for questioning from the ship: Munmun Dhamecha, Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Vikrant Chhoker, Gomit Chopra, and Arbaaz Merchant. The NCB team had received information about drugs on the ship, boarded the Goa-bound ship disguised as passengers, reported sources close to NCB. “The party began after the ship left Mumbai and was at sea. The raids began at 10 a.m. and went on till 2 p.m.”.

During the operation, the suspects were searched and different drugs were recovered from them, which they had hidden in their clothes, undergarments and purses, an NCB official confirmed. The cruise company, however in a statement said it had nothing to do with the incident. “Cordelia Cruises is in no way, directly or indirectly, connected to this incident. Cordelia Cruises had chartered its ship for a private event to a Delhi-based event management company”, stated Jurgen Bailom, the Chief Executive Officer and President, Waterways Leisure Tourism Pvt Ltd. “We, at Cordelia Cruises, condemn all acts such as these and will strictly refrain from letting our ship out for similar events in the future. Nonetheless, Cordelia Cruises is extending our full support and cooperating with the authorities”, he further said.

Shahrukh tried his best to get bail for his son but he was unsuccessful. I hope, true justice is served in this case irrespective of the superstar status of the accused.
