Haridwar (Uttarakhand): Today is the festival of Somvati Amavasya. Hence, devotees have been flocking to holy rivers, taking a dip in the morning, donating, etc.
Today, lakhs of devotees took a ‘holy bath’ at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar. The entire fair area was divided into 16 zones and 39 sectors to control the crowd.
According to Hindu beliefs, donating on this auspicious day is virtuous and accords good results. Taking a bath on Somvati Amavasya has great significance, which is why devotees from states like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, etc., reached Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar to take a dip of faith.
In view of this, tight security arrangements were made, and the entire fair area was also monitored through CCTV cameras.
