M. Jagadesh Kumar, vice-chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University said that if NEET and JEE exams aren’t held as scheduled then students will get more anxious about their future. With calls for postponement of exams from various student bodies, many academicians including the JNU vice-chancellor think otherwise.

Taking to Twitter he tweeted: Both JEE and NEET should be held as planned in September. This is not the right time to create further anxiety in students' minds by insisting on the postponement of these exams. Even the Supreme Court has said that “life must go on” and students “cannot waste a whole year”.

In an interview to DD News education minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal said that students and parents were putting pressure on the government to conduct NEET and JEE entrance exams. Several prominent politicians including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Manish Sisodia, Naveen Patnaik have voiced their opinions against JEE and NEET being conducted during the pandemic season.
