The annual convocation ceremony of the degree students of the SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce was held at College premises, Sion. Col. Rakesh Singh Chouhan of Directorate of Army veterans, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, presided over the convocation ceremony and gave away the certificates to the graduates who had passed out of the college this year.
In his address, he emphasized the need to serve the country in whatever capacity one can. Col.Chouhan is responsible for the welfare of the ex-servicemen, Veer naris, War widows and wounded soldiers in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa areas. More than 250 graduates received certificates. He said he was happy to note several of the college students are already serving the Army and they are still in touch with the college.
Dr Uma Shankar, principal of the college assured Col. Chauhan that the college would be happy to help the Army in whatever way he wants as the college has a band of dedicated NCC, NSS and students who are always willing to help the Army veterans. The Past Students’ Association of the College with its contacts has already assured Sanitary pad vending machines and incinerators for the Army widows and Veer naris.
