PM Narendra Modi pays tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose remains one of India’s greatest freedom fighter and his popularity continues to increase cutting across generations. Bose disappeared from public life just before India got its independence from the British in 1947. Believed to have been killed in a plane crash in 1945 Bose was the founder of the Indian National Army and Forward Bloc, a political party in West Bengal. He would have had a longer career in public life post-independence had the unfortunate incident not happened.

Bose’s jayanti is being celebrated in West Bengal and other parts of India. Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi tweeted from his official Twitter handle paying tributes to the late freedom fighter. Modi tweeted:

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, "महान स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और भारत माता के सच्चे सपूत नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस को उनकी जन्म-जयंती पर शत-शत नमन। कृतज्ञ राष्ट्र देश की आजादी के लिए उनके त्याग और समर्पण को सदा याद रखेगा।"
