The BJP makes a strong statement in Karnataka as the latest results show the party has a clear majority dashing the hopes of the Congress who expected themselves to rule the state for the next five years.
As per the latest reports, BJP leads in 119 seats, congress sitting in despair with 57, while the Janata Dal (S) shows improvement from their last performance with 44 seats.
The biggest setback for the Congress is that their chief minister and star campaigner Siddaramaiah lost the battle in Chamundeshwari. The constituency is considered to be as a strong bastion for the veteran leader.
