The world has been suffering from the covid pandemic for about two years and recent reports have shown a new variant called the ‘Delta-plus Variant’ which has been affecting people all over the world, especially in India. The variant called ‘Delta’ had been seen affecting people more aggressively during covid-19’s second wave. Delta-plus is said to be the parent variant of Delta and can also be a potential trigger for covid-19’s Third Wave. Currently, enough samples haven’t been collected and genome-sequenced, to know how far this variant has spread, as not many cases of this variant have been recorded.

So far twenty-one cases of Delta-plus variant have been detected in Maharashtra, out of which nine were found in Ratnagiri,  seven in Jalgaon, two in Mumbai, and one case in Palghar, Thane, and Sindhudurg, respectively. It is said that the experts and the officials are on this case and are trying their best to get to the affected people, treatment and to curb this variant before it causes any more damage to other people in the state.

Experts have said that the variant can evade both doses of the vaccine and infect one’s immunity, as it is very strong. The chances are that this delta variant can now become a beta variant, and that is quite dangerous and could be highly contagious. This variant was first seen and found in Europe, in March 2021 but was bought to the public’s attention only in June 2021.

Currently, there is no proof that the variable can be more transmissible than the others. It is a cause to be worried about, and not create panic. It is also yet to be seen if this variant beat the pre-existing immunity better than the other variants.

In conclusion, only this can be said that it would be better if everyone takes care of themselves, eat healthy food

and stay healthy to maintain one’s immunity so that these viruses cannot attack one’s bodies and make them ill. Do not leave your house or travel anywhere unless extremely necessary. Wash your hands hourly and do not touch anything while you are out. Wear your mask at all times and not on your chins, but your nose, covering your mouth.
