Chelsea finds themselves in a difficult situation right now as they are in the market for a superstar attacker and can't decide between former player Romelo Lukaku and Erling Haaland.

With no other position left to strengthen, European Champions Chelsea is looking for a superstar attacker who can provide a tough competition in the attacking third. Existing players in the squad look a bit too content with their current performances.

After their two-window transfer ban in 2019, Chelsea has come out very aggressive in the transfer market as they had all the money left in their bank due to the ban imposed on them for signing 23 minors. Last year they signed so many players for such a big amount of money that the manager had to be sacked for not providing results. Change in the managerial department was a gamble by the board which was successful. They acquired the services of out-of-employment Thomas Tuchel who was sacked earlier in the season by PSG. Tuchel reinvented the team and guided the young Chelsea team to the Champions League glory.

Chelsea does not find themselves in any scarcity of strikers, in fact, they have them in abundance. In the last transfer window, they went out and purchased German Striker Timo Werner for a large sum of money which Werner has not been able to justify.

They have young English Striker Tammy Abraham and Veteran Olivier Giroud but they seem out of favor under Tuchel. They still have a lot of money with them and are currently in the market hunting for a striker.

The twenty-year-old Erling Haaland started his career at his hometown club Bryne in 2016, and moved to Molde the following year. He spent two seasons with the club before signing with Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in January 2019. At Salzburg, he won two Austrian Bundesliga titles and one Austrian Cup. He is young, energetic, strong, fast, and looks like a young version of Zlatan with amazing pace. He burst into the scene in his first Champions League Campaign with Salzburg, where he scored a hat-trick in his Champions League debut.

After Salzburg failed to qualify for the knock-out round, he joined Borussia Dortmund in the same season earning his move into the limelight. In Dortmund, his polishing began as they molded Haaland into a goal-scoring beast earning him the nickname "The Terminator". Sources from the United Kingdom suggest that Chelsea have already agreed to personal terms with Haaland and it is just a matter of time they agree on a transfer fee with Dortmund. Haaland is very highly rated and has the stats to show for it. He is a perfect fit for Chelsea with their strong defense and fast counter-attacking Football, he can certainly be a threat they need in the attacking third. He is very strong in winning aerial duels and has a lightning-quick pace.

I seriously doubt that Chelsea will opt for Romelo Lukaku as they have failed to achieve anything with him. Chelsea signed him in 2011 from Anderlecht and have since loaned him a couple of times after a successful loan spell with Everton, he joined them on a permanent deal for £28 million. He then signed for Manchester United but had a fallout with management two years later resulting in a transfer to Inter Milan for a club record of €80 million. Lukaku had an amazing 2020-21  season scoring 24 league goals, and 11 assists, making him the highest scorer on the title-winning team and the second-highest scorer in the league, behind Ronaldo.

Lukaku is 28-years-old now and he is only  going to get slower with age. Erling Haaland would be a better option for Chelsea as he has a very bright future ahead of him.
