Dibrugarh (Assam): On Tuesday, a heartwarming scene unfolded in Dibrugarh, Assam. The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, shared a meal with the Shramik (labourers), particularly the rickshaw and cart pullers, showcasing a personal connection with their daily lives.

What made this interaction unique was the fact that the MP from Dibrugarh LSC not only interacted with them but also savoured Poori Sabji, a local delicacy, with them.

In the spirit of Antyodaya & Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, the Minister, wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account:

“Elated to spend this morning and have breakfast with our Shramik brothers in Dibrugarh.

He added in appreciation, “Their blood and sweat are the driving power of Bharat. In a heart-to-heart, I gave them my assurance to address their issues and extended warmest greetings on the eve of Durgotsav.”

‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ translates to ‘with everyone for the development of all’, a principle that guides the government’s efforts. ‘Antyodaya’ means ensuring the rise and development of the last person in society, a key aspect of building an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

The government has been working to ensure necessities for all citizens through various programmes and schemes for the holistic welfare of the poor and marginalised sections of society. This includes the unprecedented number of houses built under the PM Awas Yojana, water connections given through the Jal Jeevan Mission, bank accounts opened under Jan Dhan, direct benefit transfer to farmers through PM KISAN, free gas connections provided under Ujjwala, and many many more schemes and programmes for the poor.
