Mumbai: A testament to the power of art to unite all, regardless of geographical boundaries, on Monday, Homeopath Dr Batra’s Foundation inaugurated its 54th Edition of Magic Moments exhibition at Dilip Piramal Art Gallery-NCPA, Mumbai.

The exhibition, featuring Padma Shri Dr Mukesh Batra’s collection of photographs of iconic landscapes from the Andes – Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, serves as a global bridge, connecting the beauty and culture of these distant lands.

Actors Zayed Khan and Pooja Bedi inaugurated the five-day exhibition together with Javier Paulinich, Ambassador of Peru, and Consul Generals Daniel Quer (Argentina), Gustavo Gonzalez (Chile), and Joao de Mendonca Lima Neto (Brazil).

Commenting on the occasion, Dr Mukesh Batra said, “As a doctor, I know that having a hobby, photography or otherwise, not only provides stress relief and mental stimulation but also enhances mental and physical health.  Photography has helped me to make quick decisions.  It has taught me the difference between seeing and perceiving, which has helped me correctly prescribe for my patients.  The click-before-you-miss moments in photography have trained me to make quick decisions, which has helped me to save lives. I believe that every one of us has a hidden talent and a kalakar (artist) within us.  If we could use this talent to benefit society, it would lead to a better and happier world.  I would also like to thank Nikon and all the Consul Generals who have supported our noble initiative.”

Echoing his thoughts, the foreign diplomats said that the photographs were awe-inspiring and did justice to the beauty and culture of the featured countries. They hoped that by seeing the beauty of their countries, many more Indians would visit South America and be able to establish a greater people-to-people connection between India and their countries.

On the other hand, actor Zayed Khan articulated, “I am happy to be a part of an event that not only celebrates global beauty but also serves a meaningful cause, supporting children through art. The Magic Moments exhibition is a brilliant blend of art and philanthropy, bringing the wonders of South America to life while making a real impact. It’s inspiring to see how Dr Batra’s Foundation uses art as a vehicle for change. This exhibition is a celebration of landscapes and lives.”

Speaking on the occasion, actor Pooja Bedi said, “I am so happy to support Dr Batra’s vision for a better, happier world by using one’s talent. His photography is amazing, and the concept of using it for charity is even better. I congratulate Dr Batra on his 54th exhibition.”

Over the years, ‘Magic Moments’ has held a significant place in Mumbai’s cultural calendar, not only for its artistic appeal but also for its noble purpose. Supported by the consulates of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Peru and with technical backing from Nikon, the exhibition once again demonstrated the power of art to inspire compassion. It’s a call to action, inspiring us all to make a difference. The proceeds from the exhibition, which you can contribute to by visiting, will go towards The Victoria Memorial School for the Blind, a cause that has been at the heart of Magic Moments since its inception.

Admission to the exhibition is free, and it will be open to the public until 6 September 2024.
