New Delhi: On the fifth day of Navratri, a significant Hindu festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared on Monday a Garba song titled ‘Aavati Kalaya Madi Vaaya Kalaya’ he penned as a tribute to the goddess. The Garba, a traditional dance form, is a popular part of Navratri celebrations, symbolising the victory of good over evil and worshipping divine feminine energy.

The Prime Minister’s post on X beautifully captures the essence of Navratri, a time when people from diverse backgrounds come together in celebration.

He writes, “It is the auspicious time of Navratri, and people celebrate in different ways, united by their devotion to Maa Durga. In this spirit of reverence and joy, here is #AavatiKalay, a Garba I wrote as a tribute to Her power and grace. May Her blessings always remain upon us.”

The Prime Minister also thanked the singer Purva Mantri for singing the Garba song.

“I thank Purva Mantri, a talented upcoming singer, for singing this Garba and presenting such a melodious rendition of it. #AavatiKalay”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication to the Navratri fast is genuinely inspiring. He reportedly consumes only water and observes the nine-day fast every year. His commitment to this tradition was evident during his visit to the United States in 2014 when he observed a similar Navratri fast that baffled Americans.

The Navratri festival, which began last Thursday, holds immense cultural and spiritual significance. On the fifth day of Navratri, devotees all throughout India worship Goddess Skandamata, Lord Kartikeya’s mother and Goddess Durga’s fifth manifestation. The deity represents purity, love, and strength and brings prosperity and spiritual progress to her followers. To venerate her, devotees conduct special ceremonies, chant prayers, and offer bhog, or offerings made from bananas, as bananas are the goddess’s favourite fruit.
