Union Government exhorts Indian Toy Industry to achieve quality and competitiveness

India Toy Fair 2021 is being organized as a virtual event from February 27 to March 2, 2021 to boost toy manufacturing in India. The first virtual toy fair has attracted over 23 lakh registrations, features more than 1000 exhibitors, 100+ speakers, and 60 toy cluster participation.

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi’s vision is to build an Atmanirbhar Bharat by 2022 and India’s local toy and games industry is expected to play a crucial role in realizing this aspiration.

Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade said that toys are of serious economic concern and a very comprehensive toy master plan has been prepared with various Ministries and State Governments involved for promoting the toy industry. Dr. Mohapatra said this as a speaker at the webinar on Driving Investments to India-Making India the next Global Hub for Manufacturing and Sourcing of Toys, as part of the India Toy Fair 2021.

The Government of India has also launched ‘Toycathon’, an online toy hackathon for innovative toys/games concepts. Toycathon-2021 is conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptualize novel Toy and Games based on Bharatiya civilization, history, culture, mythology and ethos. It has seen a great response from toy loving students, teachers, start-ups and toy experts/professionals.
