New Delhi: According to the Center, multiple nations are attempting to imitate India’s distinctive Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), which has changed millions of lives.

With 138.04 crore IDs created to date, Aadhaar is the largest digital identity initiative in the world. It offers a unique digital identity based on biometric and demographic data.

DigiLocker, which allows access to digital versions of various documents such as driver’s licenses, vehicle registration certificates and academic mark sheets, has made papers available to over 30 crore users and facilitated 675 crore documents, as stated by Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronic and IT.

In the Rajya Sabha, the minister stated that the unified payments interface (UPI) handled over 1,388 crore financial transactions in June alone.

Additionally, ten nations and India have inked memorandums of understanding on cooperation in exchanging effective digital solutions deployed at the population scale.

These include Tanzania, Kenya, Cuba, Colombia, Papua New Guinea, Antigua & Barbuda, Suriname, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Trinidad and Tobago.

DPI has been created in several fields to improve inclusivity, efficiency, and accessibility.

“India Stack Global has been developed and rolled out to share the success of Indian DPIs with the global community and to facilitate replication in friendly countries,” the minister informed.

The Global DPI Repository (GDPIR) portal was designed, developed, and rolled out under the Indian presidency of the G20 in 2023.

According to an RBI report released on Friday, the country’s digital payments have increased 12.6% year over year, according to the RBI’s Digital Payments Index (RBI-DPI).

Furthermore, the Central Bank informed that it increased to 445.5 at the end of March 2024 from 418.77 in September 2023 and 395.57 in March 2023.
