Marvel’s Black Panther starring Chadwick Boseman has garnered rave reviews in the past weeks and is breaking cultural barriers and box office records not only in the US but even in India as well.

However, in India the audience had to miss a certain reference in the film due to CBFC. During the fight sequence between T’Challa portrayed by Chadwick Boseman and M’Baku played by Winston Duke the phrase ‘Glory to Hanuman’ was mentioned and the Indians, who live abroad, took pride in it. However, the audience here was confused as the phrase was not only muted but also removed from subtitles. The reference was muted by the Central Board of Film Certification out of concern to not hurt any kind of religious sentiments and to avoid any problems.
