The sequel of the film Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is set to focus on the story of a young Dumbledore portrayed by Jude Law for the first time and his pursuit of the fugitive Grindelwald who is played by Johnny Depp and while it’s been almost over a decade since J.K. Rowling surprised fans by revealing that the headmaster of Hogwarts Albus Dumbledore was gay, and was even in love with the notorious dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald during his youth until the two had a rather epic falling out, as she had expressed, “I always thought of Dumbledore as gay. Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was.” Fans have since raised questions as to, ‘Will Dumbledore’s sexuality be a part of the Fantastic Beasts story? Or will it once again, like in the Harry Potter films, not be addressed?’

However, according to director David Yates, the sequel will “not explicitly” reference Dumbledore’s sexuality as he added that “I think all the fans are aware of that. He had a very intense relationship with Grindelwald when they were young men. They fell in love with each other’s ideas, and ideology and each other.” Also screenwriter and Harry Potter author J K Rowling has previously hinted that Dumbledore’s sexuality may be explored at some point as she said, “I can’t tell you everything I would like to say because this is obviously a five-part story so there’s lots to unpack in that relationship.”
