Media Eye News Bureau: Ed Sheeran’s hit song ‘Shape of You’ won the Grammy for Best Solo Performance beating out a formidable line-up of performances by women, including Lady Gaga, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, and Kesha.
Social media users slammed the Grammy's decision for encouraging objectification and exploitation of women that an issue that people all over the world are trying to change through the #MeToo and Time's Up movements. Critics were also miffed that Sheeran was the only male nominee in the category. They felt that the other nominees were much more deserving of the award. What created more drama was that Sheeran didn't even turn up for the ceremony, despite winning two Grammy awards for Best Solo Performance and for Best Pop Vocal Album.
