An FIR has reportedly been filed against veteran Bollywood actor Jeetendra by the Shimla police on the basis of a sexual abuse complaint that was filed by his cousin.

Shimla's Superintendent of Police (SP) Umapati Jamwal confirmed the development and said, “An FIR under Section 354 IPC has been registered at Chotta Shimla police station.”

The victim had accused Jeetendra in her complaint and stated that the abuse had taken place around 47 years ago, when Jeetendra was about 28 years old, and she was 18. She alleged that Jeetendra asked her father for permission to take her to a film shoot, and it was at the hotel that he sexually abused her.

The victim will reportedly record her statement before a magistrate where she will also have to provide proof regarding her stay at the hotel.

The SP said that the case will be investigated as per the old provisions of the section 354 IPC, considering the law prevalent during the time that the alleged crime took place.

The victim had said in her complaint that she decided to speak about the incident only after the demise of her parents, who would have been shattered had they known about the alleged sexual abuse of their daughter at the hands of their nephew Jeetendra.

Jeetendra's lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee had, however, denied the allegations stating that they were “baseless, ridiculous and fabricated,” and added that the complaint was “nothing but a miserable effort made by a jealous competitor to disrupt the business activities of my client.”
