Bengaluru: Prison authorities of Bellary prison, where the Kannada actor superstar Darshan is incarcerated, have reportedly said that they have heard the actor screaming at night inside his cell. Darshan claims that he is haunted by murdered fan Renukaswamy’s spirit in prison, according to sources in Ballary prison.
Meanwhile, Darshan, whose bail petition will be heard today, will request the authorities through his lawyer to shift him back to Bengaluru prison in case his judicial custody is extended.
Sources said that Darshan has complained about murdered Renukaswamy coming in his dreams and haunting him.
He has also discussed the matter with authorities, and it is becoming difficult for him to cope with the situation as he is all alone in his cell and is not able to sleep out of fear.
Sources stated they had heard Darshan shouting and screaming while sleeping in the wee hours.
Darshan’s wife Vijayalaxmi had taken up a temple run for him and held special prayers following the development, sources stated.
Darshan was jailed with his associates in the Bengaluru Central Prison after photos showing them enjoying luxury treatment surfaced; he was isolated and shifted to the Ballary prison. The photos, widely circulated on social media, showed Darshan and his associates relaxed, which sparked public outrage and led to his isolation.

Authorities in Ballary prison have taken no chances with Darshan’s safety, keeping him in a separate, tiny cell with no access to anyone. However, this situation only adds to his sense of isolation.
The authorities also rejected his demands for facilities such as a separate cell phone, access to a phone, and better food. They allowed him to have them only after the court suggested them. This move responded to the public outcry over the luxury treatment photos.
Darshan’s son recently visited him at the prison with his mother, Vijayalaxmi.
The 57th City Civil and Sessions Court (CCH) will hear the matter, and senior counsel Sunil is presenting arguments in favour of Darshan.
Sources revealed that Darshan was complaining of severe back pain, a condition that prompted an orthopaedic surgeon to visit him in Ballary prison. The surgeon has recommended a scan and even the possibility of surgery, underscoring the urgency of his health situation.
Darshan is requesting that the prison authorities shift him back to Bengaluru prison so he can receive proper treatment.
If his judicial custody is extended, his counsel will likely ask the court to shift Darshan to Bengaluru Prison.
The prosecution has submitted objections to Darshan’s bail grant. On September 30, the court adjourned the hearing on the bail petition to October 4 after his counsel sought more time to present his arguments.
Darshan has been accused of the murder of his fan Renukaswamy, the actor’s ardent fan. Darshan was reportedly incensed, as Renukaswamy sent lewd messages and nude photographs to his girlfriend Pavitra Gawda.
