Actress Katherine Heigl is set to star in the TV show Suits for its eighth season as a series regular. She is cast opposite Gabriel Macht, as Samantha Wheeler, a talented new partner at Pearson Specter Litt who challenges the status quo and will either become the firm's greatest ally or a powerful enemy. The role marks Heigl’s first TV series regular part after ABC's Grey's Anatomy, CBS' Doubt and NBC's State of Affairs. Her addition comes after stars Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle’s exit in the season seven finale in April. Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman and Dule Hill star in the show as well.
Heigl confirmed her joining of the cast of Suits as she said, “Joining Suits was the perfect organic way to not only collaborate with an EP I admire deeply but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of. I have watched Suits from the very beginning and feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family.”
Heigl has previously starred in feature films as well, namely, 27 Dresses, Knocked Up and The Ugly Truth, which she also executive produced as well. She has also a producer and has won an Emmy and has been twice nominated for Golden Globe awards as well.
