Star Wars icon Mark Hamill received his long-overdue star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was joined by Harrison Ford who he starred with in multiple Star Wars films along with R2-D2, who were present as well.

They were also joined by Star Wars creator George Lucas and took a moment to pay tribute to Carrie Fisher after her untimely death in December 2016.

Ford said, “When thinking about today, I was really sorry we don’t have the other member of our trio to celebrate with us, but I feel her presence.”

George Lucas asserted, “Mark Hamill is a character that can’t be written. He is extremity enthusiastic about everything he does, and that is exactly what I was looking for when I cast Luke Skywalker.”

The ceremony also saw the attendance of Billie Lourd, the daughter of the late Fisher and Kelly Marie Tran who portrays Rose in The Last Jedi.

Upon receiving the honour, Hamill expressed, “It’s hard to convey my gratitude, my joy and the exhilaration. I haven’t been speechless since Force Awakens. [Ford] gave me the great advice, ‘Hey, kid, Don’t get cocky.’ And I have tried to remember that to this very day.”
