ME News Bureau: On Sunday, December 17, 2017, Dombivli in Thane district, was witness to awe-inspiring performances by some of the future dancing stars of India. They were contesting in the WOW 2017 (Winners of Worthiness) National Dance Championship’s opening ceremony, a venture put together by dance lovers to unearth, promote and also, give a wider platform for youngsters to showcase their talent.

The event was organized by the dance academy, Gjeniegoes Arts Creation (GAC), in association with Media Eye, a reputable media company with varied interests, such as 24×7 news portal, entertainment software production and events management, and news magazine, among others.

Talented school students from across Maharashtra and neighboring states, mesmerized all those present, including Dr. Sudha Chandran, legendary dancer and well-known cine and TV artiste, who was the celebrity guest, with their performances.

Dr. Chandran stated, “Unlike yesteryears, today’s children are exceptionally talented and their parents, equally supportive. This makes them the actual;’baaps’ of dance and an inspiration for even established dancers like me. I would advise them to remain committed and true to their art, and they can have the entire world as their platform.”

Said Mr. KP Sasi Nair of Media Eye, “It’s heartening to see so much talent and passion for the performing arts at one place. Media Eye commits its support to such young talents and such grand performing arts events in the future.”

Solo Dance

  • 1st Prize – Harsh Bhandari, Vivekanand English Medium School
  • 2nd Prize – Dnyaneshwari Dalvi, Shree Vailankanni English School
  • 3rd Prize – Ved Ghosalkar, Chandresh Lodha Memorial School

Group Dance

  • 1st Prize – Agratha Academy, Vapi, Gujarat
  • 2nd Prize – Shree Vailankanni English School, Dombivli
  • 3rd Prize – Shri Guru Gobind English School, Kalyan

The judges of the event were Guru Sucheta Bhopatkar – Kshirsagar, noted danseuse; and Mastana Sangare, Bollywood choreographer; while it was hosted entertainingly by Subhash D. Yadav, noted stage artiste and anchor, and whose first feature film, Roll No. 18 (Marathi) is set for release shortly.

The event was directed by reputed choreographer, Prashant G. Shelar, under the banner of his institute, Gjeniegoes Arts Creation (GAC); and supported by Shrikant A. Nair, an experienced dance instructor, who has been associated with Dr. Sudha Chandran’s dance group.

The dignitaries and celebrities who graced the occasion included Dr. Thonse Vijay Kumar Shetty, actor, director and Limca Book Record Holder for most characters played and languages spoken in a play; noted TV producer Sugandhi Hegde; Rajendra Vakhare and Seema Vakhare of crime news portal ‘Crime Border’; Mahesh Bhoir and Govardhan Bhoir, owners of event venue.
