Disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein is seeking dismissal of a federal sexual misconduct lawsuit against him filed by six women and his lawyers are dropping A-list names for the same such as those of Jennifer Lawrence, Gwyneth Paltrow and Meryl Streep as examples in an attempt to prove that not every actress he worked with had a negative experience and that they supported/continued to work with him despite his alleged history of sexual assault and harassment. They asserted that the lawsuit filed should be rejected as the alleged assaults took place too long ago and that they failed to offer facts to support claims of racketeering as well.

The lawyers quoted Streep, who had once said that Weinstein had always been respectful in their working relationship. However, this did not go down well with Streep who issued a blistering response to the use of her comments while stating that Weinstein's use of her statement “as evidence that he was not abusive with many OTHER women is pathetic and exploitive. The criminal actions he is accused of conducting on the bodies of these women are his responsibility and if there is any justice left in the system he will pay for them.”

The lawyers also used actress Gwyneth Paltrow as an example and said that she worked with Weinstein in Shakespeare in Love in 1998 which was after he was accused of harassing her during the filming of Emma in 1994. They also quoted Jennifer Lawrence telling Oprah Winfrey that she had known Weinstein since she was 20 and said “he had only ever been nice to me.”
