Thiruvananthapuram: Jayasuriya, Soubin Shahir and Nimisha Sajayan bagged awards at the 49th Kerala State Film Awards declared today.
Nimisha Sajayan declared Best Actress for Chola and Oru Kuprasidha Payyan, Jayasurya (Captain – Njan Marykutty) and Soubin Shahir (Sudani from Nigeria) shared the best actor award.
The Jury was headed by Screenwriter and Director Kumar Shahani and cultural affairs minister A. K. Balan announced the winners.
Nimisha Sajayan hails from Mumbai as the daughter of Mr Sajayan and Mrs Bindhu from Kollam. Her schooling was from Carmel Convent School, Mumbai and is a Mass Communication student from KJ Somaiya College, Mumbai.
A black belt in Taekwondo, Nimisha started her acting career with Dileesh Pothan’s film ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’, where she portrayed the role of a girl named Sreeja who works in a supermarket.
Nimisha went on to do many films, latest being the Madhupal’s ‘Oru Kuprasidha Payyan’, where she did the role of Hannah Elizabeth.
After winning the Vanitha Film Award for Best Newcomer Actress, the State award will surely add feathers to Nimisha.
