New Delhi: In a horrific instance, five members of a family–a dad and his four daughters–were discovered dead in their flat in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj district on Saturday, according to police, who added that a preliminary investigation suggested that they committed suicide.

The incident occurred in Rangpuri village.

The tragedy was discovered on Friday after neighbours reported a foul odour from the flat to the authorities. The neighbours informed the authorities that the family had not been seen in some days.

According to the officials, they obtained information about something suspicious that may have occurred at the flat.

When police arrived, they had to smash open the flat’s door. The man’s body was found on a bed in one room, while the nasty girls’ bodies were discovered in another.

The guy was recognised as Hiralal, and the four girls were his daughters: Neetu (18), Nishi (15), Neeru (10), and Nidhi (8). Their mother had passed away sometime before.

Hiralal has worked as a carpenter at the Indian Spinal Injury Centre in Vasant Kunj for the past 28 years, earning Rs 25,000 every month. However, he did not attend to his duties there since January. His youngest children, Neeru and Nidhi, were differently abled. He had taken the flat for rent.

Speculation Grows about Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s Health

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rohit Meena, Vasant Kunj South Police have sent the remains for post-mortem, and an investigation into the case has begun.

The criminal team, senior FSL teams, and senior doctors from the Forensic Department at Safdarjung Hospital were summoned to view the scene and the deceased. There were no injury marks on the dead bodies, but three packets of Celphos poison, five glasses, and a spoon containing strange liquid were discovered inside the residence.

According to officials, proceedings under Section 194 of the BNSS have been launched, a medical board has been formed to conduct post-mortem examinations on the deceased, and an extensive investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s brother, Mohan Sharma, and sister-in-law, Gudiya Sharma, arrived at the scene. They added that following his wife’s death, the deceased lost interest in familial issues and was constantly preoccupied with the treatment of his daughters in one hospital or another. The daughters barely came out of their rooms. The neighbours last saw the dead and his family on September 24.

Although the authorities have yet to find the suicide note, the man’s decision to take such dramatic measures is believed to be motivated by his daughters’ disabilities.
