Heavy rain hits Mumbai A

The urban life of Mumbai gets a taste of the upcoming monsoon as heavy rain lashes out in Mumbai leaving commuters in a disarray. Water level rises in most of the areas and suburban train services disrupted as expected. A Jet Airways flight which was scheduled to land at the Mumbai airport diverted to Ahmedabad.

Flooded roads have been reported from Dadar, Parel, Bandra and Andheri. Disaster management authority has warned severe rain in the next 24 hours throughout Maharashtra. Trains running late for 15-20 minutes in the Mumbai-Thane route due to the disruption in power supply.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC announced "red alert" in the city as there are predictions for an extended heavy rain. BMC cancelled all the leaves allowed to the officers for Saturday and Sunday as part of the precautionary measures to preserve the public from further damages.
