Heavy rain wreaks havoc i

Heavy rain coupled with landslides and flash floods caused serious damages in the northern part of Kerala, especially in Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad districts, leaving five people dead and many others worried.

Three people, including two children, in a family were killed in landslide in Thamarassery in Kozhikode. Dilna Sherin (7), her brother Muhammed Shabaz (3), and their neighbour Jaffer's sever-year old son were identified as dead.

Suresh (55), a Thrissur resident was killed after an uprooted tree fell over him and five houses were washed away in the same region.

Meanwhile the Meteorological department has predicted severe rain in the next 48 hours in the state. The Union government has sent disaster rescue force to Kozhikode amid unprecedented rain in the district as well as in the Malappuram district.
