Shops down shutters after commucnal tension in Udaipur, Rajasthan

Jaipur: The district administration of Udaipur, Rajasthan, has declared that all schools and institutions will be closed on Saturday due to the communal tension that erupted in the city when a class 10 student stabbed a little child at a government school.

The District Magistrate, in a bid to restore calm, has implemented Section 144 and issued prohibitory orders to preserve peace and order in the city.

Additionally, the district administration shut down internet access for 24 hours starting at 10 p.m. on Friday and continuing through Saturday.

According to a directive issued by Divisional Commissioner Rajendra Bhatt, Internet access in the Udaipur districts of Bedla, Badgaon, Balicha, Debari, Eklingpura, Kanpur, Dhikali, and Bhuwana will be unavailable for 24 hours starting on Friday.

The time for restoration of services can also be extended as needed, according to the sources.

Nevertheless, the lease line services will continue to function during this period.

According to Jawahar Singh Bedham, Minister of State for Home Affairs, the student hurt in the altercation is receiving medical attention in a hospital under the direction of senior physicians.

“Our priority is to save the child’s life. The Chief Minister is keeping an eye on the incident. I am constantly in touch with the district administration. The government will take strict action against the criminals. Appeal to all to maintain peace.”

Community tension was caused by a brawl between two school students in Udaipur on Friday.

The injured student was promptly taken to the hospital and is currently under the best medical care, providing hope for his recovery.

According to District Collector Arvind Poswal, the accused kid who attacked his friend and then fled right away has been detained, and an inquiry is currently being conducted.

As a mark of protest, Hindu organisations appealed to shopkeepers to shut their shops in Chetak Circle, Hathipol, Ashwini Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar, and Ghantaghar areas. The traders shut down their shops.

Protesting against the attack, the mob pelted stones and ransacked a shopping mall. Vehicles were set on fire, and a large police force was deputed to avert any further untoward incident.

The police had to resort to a lathicharge to disperse the enraged mob.

District Collector Poswal has urged people not to pay attention to rumours. He and Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal reached the MB Hospital, where the injured student is undergoing treatment.

The boy will recover soon, said Poswal.

Most of the markets have been closed, but the situation is under control as police teams are closely monitoring the area.
