Bengaluru: Karnataka Police arrested a woman and a male companion for reportedly stabbing a 60-year-old man because of a love proposal.

The event occurred in the Sadduguntepalya neighbourhood of Bengaluru.

According to the police, the victim, Hitendra Kumar, a cloth shop owner from Jayanagar, had invited the young woman to meet him at KEB Park in BTM Layout on September 15. She arrived at 9.30 p.m., and when they sat on a bench, Siddu, the woman’s male friend, appeared and began stabbing Hitendra.

Siddu stabbed Hitendra in the abdomen and other regions, causing the victim to fall. Locals and passersby alerted the police, who took him to the hospital. According to police, Hitendra is responding to treatment and is no longer in danger.

The victim has filed a police report against the young woman and her male friend, alleging that he proposed to her during a prior visit to the park, and she agreed.

Preliminary enquiries indicated that the woman worked for Hitendra’s fabric shop in Jayanagar for a few months before leaving. She claimed that the victim had harassed her when she was working in the shop.

The police are currently investigating if the victim sexually harassed or intimidated the woman, which prompted the attack. They also believe the woman and her male friend may have premeditated the crime.

Police are investigating the communications between the arrested woman and the victim to solve the case. Statements from staff at the clothing store are also being recorded.
