Rahul Gandhi Enjoys Ice Cream After Dinner at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk

Srinagar (J&K): On a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday. During this, he had dinner in a hotel at Lal Chowk, a significant location in the political landscape of J&K. After the dinner, he also made a casual yet politically significant stop at an ice cream parlour, perhaps to connect with the locals in a more informal setting.

Meanwhile, the dates of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir have been announced. Hence, all the political parties, including the Congress, are intensifying their efforts and visiting Jammu and Kashmir to ensure victory in the upcoming elections.

Rahul Gandhi is in Srinagar to evaluate the party’s readiness for the impending assembly elections in the state and explore the possibility of forming an alliance with the National Conference.

The first round of the three-phase assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir is slated to start on September 18. The remaining two rounds will be held on September 25 and October 1. The votes will be tallied on August 4.

This is the first time J&K is going into elections after the abrogation of Article 370 (granting special status to the then state of J&K) on August 5, 2019.
