Shanmukhananda honours Wo

Three officers of the Byculla women fire fighting team were felicitated on the occasion of the International Women's’ day by the Women's’ wing of the Shanmukhananda Sabha at the Sabha auditorium on Saturday. The Byculla fire brigade controls  110 women fire fighting team under Mrs Shwetambari Nainad, Mrs, Sunita Avinash Khote and Mrs.Shubhangi Vijay Bhor. Byculla station is the first gender-integrated fire Brigade in Maharashtra.

As it will not be possible to get all the women fighters due to their occupation, these three officers receive on behalf of all of them said Mrs Usha Ravi, Vice president of the Sabha.  On the occasion of the International Women's’ day the Women’s wing of the Sabha has been honouring women achievers from different fields like  Police, Bankers, Lawyers and performing arts.

Fire fighting until recently was the domain of men, the Mumbai fire brigate women have proved they can fight along with men to face nature’s fury. The award was given for their courage and dedication,  carries a shawl, memento and citation and in addition a Microwave oven for the Byculla centre.

On behalf of her team, Mrs Shwetambari Assistant Station Officer said, she was happy to receive the award on the International Women's day and “She and her team are grateful for the Sabha’s gesture”.
