Jaipur: After a quarrel between two school students, tension erupted in Udaipur on Friday. One of the injured students was rushed to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

According to collector Arvind Poswal, the accused student who attacked his friend and then quickly escaped from the scene has been caught, and an investigation is currently underway.

A crowd stormed the mall, throwing stones and demonstrating against the attack. Swift police intervention, including the dispatch of a large force, prevented further escalation of the situation.

The enraged mob had to be dispersed by the police using a lathicharge.

Officials said that after a scuffle, a student left his friend hurt, and the latter was transferred to Maharana Bhupal Hospital.

Hindu organisations urged store owners in the Chetak Circle, Hathipol, Ashwini Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar, and Ghantaghar neighbourhoods to down the shutters in protest following which the shop owners shut down their shops.

According to district education officer Lokesh Bharti, the minors, who are classmates, are only 15 years old. He added that the reason for their quarrel remains unclear; they fought during the post-lunch hours, raising concern about the incident.

Hindu organisations held a demonstration with banners in front of the hospital. Police officers were stationed outside the hospital.

District Collector Poswal asked the assembly to disregard rumours. He arrived at MB Hospital with SP Yogesh Goyal, where the injured student was receiving treatment. Poswal assured that the youngster would quickly recover.

As a result of the incident, most of the markets have been closed. Police teams are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.
