Well known Harikatha exponent Smt. Vishakha Hari gave a two day scintillating Sankeetha Upanyasam on “Mahabharatha Katha Saranam” at the Shanmukhananda Fine
Arts & Sangeetha Sabha auditorium , Mumbai. Before the performance she was felicitated by Sabha’s Vice President Smt Usha Ravi with a Ponnadai.
Visaka Hari is very popular now for her “Sangeetha Upanyasams”, i.e., half classical music and half Upanyasam. The dance guru of Visakha Sudharani Ragupathy once said
she was a child prodigy in both dance and music and got confused at one stage on which one to choose as her career. She finally decided music with Lalgudi Jayaraman as her
guru.
During her performances you can see her only in 9 yards saree. When young Visaka was like any other City girls with Jeans, T-shirt. What a decisive transformation at this
age! – only some divine personalities can do that.
Smt. Vishaka performs harikatha on various topics such as Shrimad Ramayanam, Bhagavadam, Skandam, Sri Vaishnava Samhita, Divya desa Vaibhavam, Shri Bhaktha
purisha sthavam , Shatakams and Keerthanas.
She is an all-India rank-holder in Chartered Accountancy with ranks and distinctions tucked under her belt in commerce and direct taxes but revels being a raconteur. She
grew up in Chennai but prefers the spiritual aura and serenity of Srirangam. She travels widely for her performances but leisure is spent studying scriptures and rehearsing
Upanyasam and Sangeetham.
