Kolkata/New Delhi: The CBI reportedly revealed multiple missing connections in its status report on the probe into the rape and murder of a woman doctor at the state-run R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital in Kolkata, which it presented to the Supreme Court on Thursday.

The case is being heard by the Supreme Court’s division bench, which is led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud. As this is the second hearing at the CJI’s division bench in the case, all eyes are now on the proceedings.

According to sources, the first piece of information lacking is the significant amount of time that passed between the finding of the body in the hospital building’s seminar hall early on August 9 and the reporting of the tragedy to the local police station.

According to sources, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigators are attempting to determine why it took the hospital administration—particularly the controversial former R.G. Principal Sandip Ghosh—so long to alert the police following the body’s discovery. Since last Friday, the CBI has been questioning Dr Ghosh to connect the links. The interrogation has continued for a marathon, 12 to 14 hours almost daily.

Dr Ghosh also showed up for questioning at the CBI’s Salt Lake office on the northern outskirts of Kolkata on Thursday. He has appeared for the past seven days in a row. Additionally, the CBI has called Ghosh’s driver to be questioned on Thursday.

The individual who initially noticed the victim’s body at the seminar hall on August 9th is the second missing link.

Sources claimed that despite questioning a number of R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital employees, both medical and non-medical, the investigating authorities had not yet identified the person who initially noticed the body. Those being questioned have made contradictory statements.

According to sources, the investigating official thought that many unsolved questions about the case would be resolved after the person who initially noticed the body was identified.

On August 9, a woman doctor’s death was discovered on hospital grounds under suspicious circumstances. So far, there has been just one arrest. Over the issue, protests broke out in the city and later throughout the entire country.
